Tour Guide for the Scottish Borders
Ian Maitland Hume is the right person to guide you in the Scottish Borders. He has been taking large and small groups or individual parties all over Scotland for the past ten years. He lives in Berwickshire - the Eastern March of the Borders - and is at present the convenor of the Clan Home Association, one of the great Border clans.
Ian has an intimate knowledge of our wonderful heritage of Border Abbeys, which include Melrose, Jedburgh, Kelso and Dryburgh, as well as our fascinating selection of castles and mansions and tower houses which span a period of some 1000 years of Border history.
Traditional life and land settlement over the centuries have long been one of his specialist interests, following the first class honours degree awarded to him by the University of Edinburgh in Scottish History and Scottish Ethnology. For his doctorate he made a detailed study of tartan and identity, with particular emphasis on Scottish American identity.
Whatever your particular interest, Ian will enable you to add a wonderful Borders experience to your travels and will show you the enormously varied range of country which make up our very special part of Scotland, whilst giving you an unforgettable taste of Scottish heritage and history.
